What kind of book is The Thirteen Threads?
A whimsical fantasy adventure built for readers who want a little magic in their afternoon — hidden portals, gnomes with strong opinions, cosmic waystations, and just enough humor to keep the whole journey light on its feet. There's real heart underneath the mischief, but at its core it's meant to feel like an escape: the kind of book where an ordinary breakfast can turn into a doorway to somewhere impossible.
Who is this book for?
Written first for readers around 8 to 12 — the same audience who loves Narnia or The Spiderwick Chronicles. But whimsical fantasy doesn't check ID: if you're someone who still believes an ordinary house can hide a doorway, whatever your age, this book is for you.
Who are the main characters?
Three housemates carry the story: Pip, a small, wide-eyed gnome missing a piece of himself he can't name; Tilda, sharp and skeptical, the one who keeps everyone honest; and Brimley, 237 years old, afraid of round food and even more afraid of being wrong. They're not the only ones you'll meet on this journey — a few more are being held back on purpose. Join the Book Club and be the first to meet them.
Is this the first book in a series?
Yes, and it stands completely on its own — no cliffhanger waiting at the end. But this world isn't finished yet, and more may be on the way.
What formats are available?
Hardcover, paperback, and eBook are available now through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers. A Spanish edition (Los Trece Hilos) is on Amazon. The audiobook is coming soon. See the list above for direct links.
Where can I read a sample?
Read Chapter 1 free, right here — the same story, just laid out for your screen instead of a printed page.
What inspired the story?
This story started as a dream — vivid enough to refuse being forgotten. Pip, Tilda, and Brimley arrived almost fully formed, sketched out in look and movement before a single line was written. There's a long-standing pull toward the psychological side of storytelling here — memory, identity, the things we quietly lose and spend years trying to name again — and this book is where that pull finally became a story.
Can I buy a signed copy from the author?
When a limited drop is open, you'll see Buy a Limited Signed Copy on the home page — 25 copies at $45, shipping within the US. Drops are small and sell out quickly; when the button isn't there, we're between batches. For events, classroom visits, or other requests, drop us an email and we'll figure it out.
How do I join the Book Club?
Use the sign-up form on the home page for early access to hidden chapters, character drops, and pieces of this world that haven't been shared anywhere else yet.
Is there Thirteen Threads merchandise?
Yes — mugs, apparel, and a few other Waystation-inspired pieces are in the shop, for readers who want to carry a little of this world with them.
